Understanding Roles in LigiOpen 🎭

LigiOpen uses a role-based system. Every user starts as a Fan, and additional roles are assigned based on what you do in the world of sports.

The powerful thing? You can have multiple roles at the same time. A Club Admin is also a Fan. A player is also a Fan. You switch between your roles using the Profile tab → Switch Role.

Who has this role? Every single person who downloads LigiOpen. It’s the default role — you get it automatically when you sign up.

How do you get it? Automatically, when you create a LigiOpen account.

What can you do?

What screens do you see? Five tabs: Home, Fixtures, Standings, Clubs, Profile

⚽ Player

Who has this role? Any registered athlete who has claimed their player profile on LigiOpen.

How do you get it? Your club admin registers you as a “shadow player” and sends you an email invitation. You tap the link in the email, and if you already have a LigiOpen account, your player profile is linked immediately. If you’re new, you create an account first, then the profile is linked. The Player role is granted to you automatically after the link is made.

What can you do?

What screens do you see? Five tabs: My Profile, Fixtures, History, Standings, Profile

🛡️ Club Admin

Who has this role? The manager, secretary, or official representative of a registered club.

🔑 Super Admin

What can you do? Everything a League Admin can do, plus:

What screens do you see? A side-drawer navigation with: Users, Officials, Seasons, Venues, Leagues, Clubs, Profile

📹 Content Admin

Who has this role? The person at the stadium on match day responsible for recording everything that happens.

What can you do?

What screens do you see? Two tabs: Dashboard, Profile

🟡 Official

Who has this role? Registered referees and assistant referees.

How do you get it? A Super Admin creates your official profile (name, certification level, role, county). Your LigiOpen account is then linked to that official profile.

What can you do?

💡 Note: The dedicated Official section of the app is coming soon. Some features are currently managed through your Profile tab.

Having Multiple Roles

You can absolutely have more than one role. This is very common:

Your Profile tab shows all your roles. Switch between them anytime:

  1. Tap Profile tab (bottom right or drawer).
  2. Scroll to Switch Role.
  3. Tap the role you want.

The app reloads the tabs and screens for that role.

Role-Switching: A Real Example

Coach Cheruiyot is the team manager of Sofapaka FC. He has two LigiOpen roles: Fan and Club Admin.

In the morning, he opens LigiOpen and switches to his Club Admin role. He checks the squad — a new player joined yesterday. He registers the player, fills in their details, and sends them an invite email.

In the afternoon, he switches back to his Fan role, and watches the Gor Mahia vs AFC Leopards live fixture on the app, cheering from his couch. Same phone, same app, two completely different experiences.
