Player Guide ⚽

The Player role gives you a personal athlete profile on LigiOpen. See your stats, declare your availability for upcoming matches, view your club history, and track your progress across seasons.

What is the Player Role?

As a Player, you’re a registered athlete with a verified profile on LigiOpen. Your club admin creates your profile, and you “claim” it by tapping a link in an invitation email. Once claimed, you gain access to your player-specific tabs and features.

How Do I Get the Player Role?

Your club admin registers you on LigiOpen first. Here’s how the process works:

If you’re new to LigiOpen:

  1. Your club admin creates your player profile (name, position, jersey number, team).
  2. You receive an email invitation with a “Claim My Profile” button.
  3. Tap the button — the LigiOpen app opens (or the Play Store if you don’t have it yet).
  4. Register a new account with your name, email, and password.
  5. Your player profile is automatically linked to your new account.
  6. The Player role is added to your account. ✅

If you already have a LigiOpen account:

  1. Your club admin creates your player profile using the same email you registered with.
  2. You receive an email invitation with a “Claim My Profile” button.
  3. Tap the button — the app opens.
  4. Since you’re already logged in, your player profile is linked instantly.
  5. The Player role is added to your account. ✅

💡 Use the same email that your club admin has on file for you. This is how LigiOpen connects your account to your player profile.

Switching to the Player Role

If you have multiple roles (e.g. Fan and Player), switch like this:

  1. Tap the Profile tab (bottom right).
  2. Scroll to the Switch Role section.
  3. Tap Player.

The app reloads with your Player tabs.

Current Season Stats

Stat Who it applies to
Matches Played All players
Minutes Played All players
Goals Scored Outfield players
Assists Outfield players
Yellow Cards All players
Red Cards All players
Clean Sheets Goalkeepers

💡 Stats are recorded automatically when the Content Admin logs match events. You don’t enter your own stats.

All Seasons Stats

Below the current season, you’ll see a list of your stats from all previous seasons. Each row shows the season name and your stats for that season.

📅 Fixtures Tab

The Fixtures tab shows all upcoming scheduled matches for your team.

What You See Per Fixture

Each fixture row shows:

Availability badge colours:

Badge Meaning
🟢 Green You declared Available
🔴 Red You declared Unavailable
🟡 Yellow You declared Maybe
⚫ Grey Not yet declared

Declaring Your Availability

Your coach needs to know if you’ll be available for each match. Here’s how to declare:

  1. Tap any upcoming fixture in the list.
  2. A bottom sheet slides up from the bottom of the screen.
  3. Choose one of three options:
    • Available — “I’ll be there, ready to play”
    • Unavailable — “I can’t make this one”
    • Maybe — “Not sure yet”
  4. Optionally, add a note to your coach (e.g. “Muscle strain — seeing doctor Tuesday”, “Work shift ends at 2pm, will be late”).
  5. Tap Submit.

Your badge on the fixture list updates immediately.

💡 Your coach can see all declarations. It helps them plan team selection and training. Be honest — if you’re injured, say so.

⚠️ Once your coach locks the squad, usually the evening before the match, you can no longer change your availability declaration. Make sure to declare early!

📖 History Tab

The History tab shows every club you’ve played for before your current one.

Each entry shows:

💡 If you’re at your first club, this list will be empty. That’s completely normal.

This gives you a full career record on LigiOpen — every club, every season, all in one place.

🏆 Standings Tab

The Standings tab shows the league table for your club’s teams.

If your club has multiple teams competing in different divisions (e.g. First Team in the KPL Premier Division, Reserve Team in the NSL), you’ll see both listed here, grouped by season (most recent season first).

Tap any entry to see the full league table for that division.

Real Scenarios

Scenario 1: Declaring Availability

Victor Otieno is a midfielder for AFC Leopards. On Wednesday, his coach sends a WhatsApp message: “Everyone please declare availability for Saturday’s match by tomorrow.”

Victor opens LigiOpen, switches to his Player role, and taps the Fixtures tab. He can see Saturday’s fixture — AFC Leopards vs Gor Mahia at Nyayo Stadium, 3:00 PM. His badge shows a grey ⚫ (not declared).

He taps the fixture. The bottom sheet slides up. He taps ✅ Available and adds a note: “Ready to go, no injuries.” He taps Submit.

His badge immediately turns green 🟢. His coach can see the update on the club admin side. Done in 30 seconds. ✅

Scenario 2: Checking Career Stats

Wanyama has had a long career in Kenyan football. He opens LigiOpen and goes to his My Profile tab.

Under Current Season Stats, he can see he’s played 18 matches this season, scored 4 goals, and picked up 2 yellow cards.

He scrolls down to All Seasons Stats and sees his entire career history season by season — including when he was at Sofapaka FC three years ago and scored 12 goals.

He taps the History tab to see his full club history: Ulinzi Stars (2019–2021), Sofapaka FC (2021–2023), and now his current club. Every entry shows exactly when he joined and left. 📖
