Getting Started with LigiOpen 🚀

Welcome! This guide walks you through everything you need to do the first time you open LigiOpen — from downloading the app to exploring your first fixtures.

Step 1 — Download the App 📲

Open the Google Play Store on your Android phone and search for “LigiOpen”. Tap Install.

💡 iOS (iPhone) coming soon. For now, LigiOpen is available on Android only.

Step 2 — Create Your Account

When you open LigiOpen for the first time, you’ll see the welcome screen. Tap Register (not Log In).

Fill in the following details:

Field What to enter
Full Name Your real name (e.g. “David Mutua”)
Email A valid email address you check regularly
Phone Number Your Kenyan or international mobile number
Password At least 6 characters

Tap Create Account when you’re done.

Tip: Use the same email address your club admin would use to invite you as a player. This makes it easy for your club to find you when they register you.

⚠️ Important: Your email address must be unique — you can’t use an email that’s already registered on LigiOpen.

Step 3 — Verify Your Email ✉️

After registering, LigiOpen sends a 6-digit verification code to your email address.

  1. Open your email app and find the message from LigiOpen.
  2. Copy the 6-digit code.
  3. Go back to LigiOpen and type the code into the verification screen.
  4. Tap Verify.

⚠️ You won’t be able to log in until you verify your email. This step protects your account and makes sure the email address is really yours.

💡 Didn’t receive the code? Check your spam/junk folder. If it’s not there after a few minutes, tap Resend Code in the app.

Step 4 — Your First Login

Once your email is verified, LigiOpen logs you in automatically and takes you straight to your Fan dashboard.

You’ll see the 5 main tabs at the bottom of the screen:

Tab What it shows
🏠 Home Recent and live fixtures
📅 Fixtures All upcoming and past fixtures
🏆 Standings League tables
🛡️ Clubs Browse all clubs
👤 Profile Your account and settings

Step 5 — Explore as a Fan

As a Fan, you can browse everything publicly available on LigiOpen right away — no extra setup needed.

Here’s what you can do:

💡 No subscription needed. Browsing LigiOpen as a Fan is completely free.

Step 6 — Getting Additional Roles

Starting out, you’re a Fan. Other roles unlock more features:

Role How you get it
Player Your club admin registers you and sends you an email invite to claim your player profile
Club Admin A Super Admin assigns this to you
League Admin A Super Admin assigns this to you
Content Admin A Super Admin assigns this to you
Official A Super Admin creates your official profile

You don’t request roles yourself — they’re assigned to you by the people who manage your league or club.

The app reloads with the tabs and features for that role.

A Real Example: James Gets Started

David Mutua is a midfielder for Sofapaka FC’s reserve team. His coach told him to download LigiOpen.

James downloaded the app, tapped Register, and filled in his name, email, and phone number. He got a 6-digit code on his Gmail, typed it in, and was in within 5 minutes.

He immediately went to Standings and looked up Sofapaka FC in the NSL Division — his club was sitting 3rd. Happy with that, he went to Fixtures and found their next match: Sofapaka vs Bandari, Saturday at Moi International Sports Centre, 3:00 PM.

Two days later, he got an email from his club admin inviting him to claim his player profile. He tapped the link, and suddenly a new Player tab appeared in his LigiOpen app. His journey as a registered player had begun! ⚽
